Medigap Plan E

In Spanish | Medigap Plan E is one of the most comprehensive Medigap plans available. It offers coverage for most out-of-pocket expenses that Medicare Part A and B do not cover. This includes coverage for Medicare Part A and B deductibles, excess charges, and skilled nursing facility care coinsurance.

In Spanish | One of the main advantages of Medigap Plan E is that it provides coverage for Part B excess charges. These are charges that doctors and other healthcare providers can charge above the Medicare-approved amount. Without Medigap Plan E, beneficiaries may be responsible for paying these excess charges out of pocket.

Additionally, Medigap Plan E offers foreign travel emergency coverage, helping beneficiaries when they are travelling outside the United States and its territories. This coverage is essential for retirees who enjoy travelling.

However, it is important to note that Medigap Plan E is no longer available for sale to new Medicare beneficiaries since 2010. If you already have it, you can keep it. Nonetheless, beneficiaries who want similar benefits can opt for Medigap Plan F or the High-Deductible version of Plan F, which offers most of the same coverage at a lower premium than Medigap Plan E.
